What kind of cases of legal change through social movement activism do you know of?

In our research project (2009-2012) we are going to investigate a number of different cases of how the law and the legal system influence activism and how activism in social movements influence the law and the legal system. We have some ideas of cases that might be interesting to look at, but we are very much looking for more and new cases. Do you know of any? What cases do you think we should look at? It could be cases where there is innovative methods of action used, new forms of themes introduced, unusual collaborations between lawyers and activists, or something else that is especially interesting. Let us know. Please tell of your ideas, and give some suggestions of how to find the info. Thanks!!
